TheresMac Apple Price Index
Apple rarely discounts its own hardware, so the useful question is how far below Apple's list price each product sells at other U.S. retailers. Each month TheresMac records the lowest in-stock new price it has for every tracked product and compares it with Apple's list price. This page keeps every edition, the headline figures and the method in one place, at a URL that will not move.
Latest edition: Apple Price Check: August 2026. Every figure here is a dated snapshot, not a current offer. For today's prices, use the product catalog.

Comparing editions
- June and July counted Amazon prices. August excluded Amazon entirely, which is part of why its averages are shallower.
- Apple reset its list prices in late June 2026. From July, every edition measures against the new list prices, so June to July movement mixes retailer moves with Apple's own changes.
- Coverage grew from edition to edition, as the product counts in the table show.
- August prices carry individual check dates between June 16 and August 24, 2026. That edition's Checked column shows the date for each row.
- The June 29 report was a one-off look at the market after Apple's price reset, not a monthly edition.
Methodology
For each current new product in the TheresMac catalog, the recorded low is the lowest in-stock new price among the retailers TheresMac tracks, compared with Apple's then-current list price. Refurbished units and used-marketplace listings, such as eBay, Swappa and Back Market, are excluded from the headline figures.
Prices change continuously. Treat every figure as the price recorded on the snapshot date, and confirm the current checkout price with the retailer. Each edition states its own method in full: June 2026, June 2026 (special), July 2026, August 2026.
